Discounts and free travel passes Transport for West Midlands
Partially sighted people can see more than someone who is blind, but less than a fully sighted person. This requires applicants to provide evidence that their disabilities or medical conditions are such that they meet the criteria set out. The disability should have a substantial effect on a person’s ability to carry out normal day-to- day activities. However, as travel for children under the age of five is free, West Midlands Combined Authority will not consider an application in respect of a disabled child until their fifth birthday.
You can update your personal details online if your name or address has changed. We’ll write to you 4 to 6 weeks before your pass expires and tell you how to renew it. If you apply through the post, send your application to the address on the form.

Or you might have to apply again. We’ll write to you around 3 months before your pass expires. Send the application and supporting evidence to the address on the form. We’ll guide you and let you know what you need to provide for your disability. It’s the fastest way to apply and only takes around 15 minutes. The top-up lets you use your pass on the bus before 9.30 am in term time.
Travel by bus, train and tram with an nNetwork ticket
You can renew your older person’s pass if your current card is due to expire and you’ve received a letter or email from us. If you do not live in the West Midlands, contact your local authority to apply. If you’re disabled, you might be able to get a free bus pass for travel anywhere in England. Failure to attend for a given appointment or to promptly pay a Reassessment Fee may lead to an application for a concessionary travel pass being delayed or declined. Where there is doubt about whether someone would be refused a driving licence, the local authority is strongly advised to seek independent medical advice. It is not a condition of entitlement under this category that the disabled person should apply for and be refused a driving licence (which would be unduly burdensome for everyone involved).
You can also use your travel pass as a pay as you go card. If you are 16 to 18 years old, and living in the West Midlands Combined Authority area, you can apply for a photocard instead of Workwise and get half-price tickets until you’re 18. To get a refund on multi-day tickets, you must have at least 5-day tickets remaining on the card. You can only get a refund on a Swift ticket if you register your card online. You can apply for or renew a disabled person’s pass online.
Tram tickets can be used on the West Midlands Metro tram route. NBus allows you to use your tickets on any bus in the West Midlands nBus area. Contact Customer Services if you want to change the ticket loaded onto your card. After that, your account will be cancelled and you’ll have to get a new card. You can also register more than one card on your account.
Direct Debit is an easy way to buy tickets. Depending on your disability, your pass might be automatically renewed. You’ll need to upload copies of evidence that supports your disability. You’ll need to include proof of your disability when you apply. Use our ticket finder to find pre-9.30 add-on tickets. Any person with a cardiac, locomotor, renal or neurological disorder might qualify.
Included within this category are people who are unable to communicate orally in any language. Therefore, for the purpose of determining eligibility, the average hearing loss will be calculated for each ear excluding the 8000+ pitch. The Department advises that the statutory minimum concession should be made available to people in these categories.
You can get a refund if you forget your season ticket and need to buy a daily ticket for a train journey. How you apply depends on how you bought your ticket. The refund won’t be the exact amount left on your pass. There must also be 3 months of validity left UK casinos not on Gamstop on those tickets. When you get a refund, your Swift card will be blocked.
